Contact the payment provider promptly
Tell the bank, card issuer, wallet, exchange or payment service what happened and ask what protective or dispute steps are available. RBI requires regulated banks to provide reporting channels for unauthorized electronic transactions, but liability and outcomes depend on the facts and current rules.

Use the current official route in your jurisdiction
In India, as checked on 29 September 2026, the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal provides financial-fraud reporting and identifies helpline 1930. Confirm the current process at cybercrime.gov.in when acting. Elsewhere, use your national reporting service and local law-enforcement guidance.

Monitor and improve the control that failed
